  • Very interesting post for parents to listen to.  Boy, after listening I wished I had been given golf lessons as a kid.   Loved the bird sounds during your video.  Made me feel like I was right there with ou.

  • Donovan, I can see how sports can help kids, but also in some sports make them become very aggressive.  Just like anything there are good things to be learned from sports.  One being working as a “team.”  Other day granddaughter made 4 soccer goals.  It took the whole team to help her, but she got the recognition although I don’t see her as the hero, but the whole “team” being one.  Thanks for sharing.

  • Great video Donovan; sports is very important to build endurance and character skills PLUS leadership skills. Great motivation for parents!

  • Thank you Donovan…excellent video! Sports are an excellent medium to enhance social, sensory, and motor skills! …Thanks, Hughie

My kids compete and have competed in soccer, triathlon, track, running, 1/2 marathons, swimming, karate, football, baseball, softball, and fighting with each other.
I think sports is essential to help kids learn to compete, in life, and sports in general.

I love the analogy Donovan. Golf really is about discipline and self control. I also love the fact that it’s no discerner of who’s hitting the ball.

Wow, cannot believe how a game like golf cannot only develop a child but also bring a family together. This teaches me to think deeper through the simple things in life. Florence

  • Yes, I didn’t play golf until 9 years ago. Would have helped in my mental game for sure. Don’t those bird sound great!!

  • Great comments Carol. Sport does bring out the worst and the best in some people. Thankfully it is the minority that from time to time spoil things for the others. Your granddaughter sounds like the ideal goal scorer to make any team better. Thanks for that!

  • Thanks Olga. I agree with you and it also help the young who have leadership tendencies to refine them even more.

  • Good point Hughie. Young people like adults learn in different ways, so sport is a great one for many things!

  • AJ, your kids sound like all round athletes. Will we being seeing them in London 2012 Olympics perhaps?

  • Thanks for stopping by Eno. Yes golf is a great game for so many valuable life skills.

  • Hi Florence, thanks for stopping by. I’m glad that you enjoyed a way to think deeper. It’s amazing how the family can all connect through such a simple past time!
