Are we all naturally gifted?
By Donovan Grant
We all have natural gifts. Some people call it talent, some call it skill and some call it brilliance. Whatever you call it, if you don’t use it – you lose it. If you don’t sharpen it – you get rusty. If you don’t share it with others – you could be holding yourself back in life.
Everyone does something better than everyone they meet. That includes you and even me too.
The thing is many of us at some point during adulthood get to a stage in life where we decide, I’m just going to stick with what I’ve got. It’s too late in life to try something new or something that I would really enjoy doing.
Now this belief is okay for some people because everyone has a choice in the life they lead. But the question to you is: do you ever hear a voice from your heart saying “you were born to be more than this?”
I can tell you I sure have. Life can ask you some tough questions sometimes… What do you do about it?
Ironically if you were to read the biographies of successful people from any field, you will find a consistent theme throughout. Rather than “I was just blessed with God given talent,” you will find that many successful people put their success down to “dedication and hard work.”
The thing is- if talent alone was enough, wouldn’t we all be successful, drive Ferraris and live in mansions?
Will Smith helps us to answer that question . . .
“The only thing that I see that is distinctly different about me is I’m not afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be out-worked, period. You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those things you got it on me in nine categories. But if we get on the treadmill together, there are two things: You’re getting off first, or I’m going to die. It’s really that simple, right?”
“You’re not going to out-work me. It’s such a simple, basic concept. The guy who is willing to hustle the most is going to be the guy that just gets that loose ball.”
Will could of course be a rare breed or just a truly exceptional human being. However the clear message from him is that you set your own standards. You choose what you will do with the talents you have. You choose how much effort you apply to your pursuits and most importantly, you decide what price you are willing to pay to being the best you can be.
So, right now I’m voting for the team that says talent alone is not enough to make you a success! And even more importantly, you don’t have to be born with some amazing unbelievable skills to be a success.
Have you ever looked at the results someone has achieved and said, “I wish I was as gifted as them?”
If you have, please allow me to be the friend that whispers in you ear. “You are gifted already. You are talented already. You have got everything you need to be a success. All you need is to take action and stay on the treadmill and take it one step at a time.”
Ask yourself these great questions when it comes to making use of Your natural gifts:
Do people often complement you for something?
Are you always reading about a particular type of book?
When you daydream what is your favourite dream about?
What have you always wanted to pursue in life?
What would you do if money was not an issue?
Your answers could be the key towards living your ideal life.
Remember this- When we raise our awareness about what we really want, it is the first step to changing the quality of our lives. Awareness is not just about the mind. Awareness is your inner self that is unlimited potential.
Let's make use of our God given talents today!
We love to serve you every day!
