Have You Ever Stayed Awake At Night Thinking About Your Career Change Dreams?

By Donovan Grant

An unfulfilled dream to me is the power source that keeps people moving forward. Our dreams are our goals, our aims and our vision for improving in some way. When you feel that passionate desire to do something and it just won’t go away, it could be a sign post for where you find you becoming the person you were meant to be.

Sometimes you may get started on a project and for some reason you are unable to finish it and you never even think about it again. However, there are some things that you think about time and time again that have that extra spark for you. You just love the feelings that it brings by just imagining it.

Are you fulfilling your dream? The 21st century lifestyle for the average person is so frantic. Most people fall into the trap of living by society’s expectations. Too busy doing all sorts stuff, so there is no spare time to fit in fulfilling dreams too?

What sort of things can hold you back from spending time doing something that you would prefer?

– Wanting it to be too perfect

– Something else always takes priority

– Unable to do it on your own

– Not sure if it’s what you really want!

The fact that it’s that it’s your dream, means that you may have found your calling and it won’t just go away. Aren’t you glad?

Some people do make a start on building their fantastic future…

New job or new career path, new business venture or healthier body and lifestyle. Yes, they get started, and so often they don’t finish the dream. Life becomes like Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony!”

Maybe the act getting started, trying and failing is part of the journey. Maybe it was meant to be that way. Let’s face it, if it was easier to achieve our dreams, and you could just walk into your dream job, cruise through career change or simply launch a million dollar business, wouldn’t every body be doing it?

A recent Galop poll indicated that more 50% of workers are miserable in their current jobs. One out of every two people you meet hates their job! They may have talked about what they really want to do. But sadly, most people end up retiring and many die without having fulfilled their innermost dream.

My friend, you are not most people. You just like me are building your own dream. Yes it is hard. The struggle is always there. It gets discouraging sometimes. It get disenchanting sometimes. Keep going.

Some of you are trying to change career to something you are more passionate about. You’ve created the goal, you’ve done the research and every time that you get moving you seem to run into a roadblock. After too many setbacks, you say to yourself…

“Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be!”.

And so you are left discouraged, you are left bewildered, you are stuck! The good news is, this is what we call life. Life is never a straight line. Life is going to throw challenges your way to see how serious you are. The thing that will keep you going is the voice inside that keeps calling you “keep going, you are nearly there!”

Is it meant to be? Quite frankly, you wouldn’t even have the desire if it wasn’t meant to be. So, don’t settle for less.

The desires of your heart will lead to your destiny. How does that land for you? Maybe, you can carry the phrase with you as a reminder to keep moving forward.

I don’t know what your unfulfilled dream specifically is; could be job change, career transition, start a new business or even becoming a student again. Whatever it is, KEEP YOUR DREAM ALIVE.

It may not come today or it may not come tomorrow, but one thing for sure is that the desire of your heart will lead to your destiny.

I believe in you and I believe in your dreams.   Thank you for allowing us to serve you each and everyday!

  • Donavan, great article. I like what you say about getting started and not finishing what we start out to do, like the Unfinished Symphony. Most people quit when faced with roadblocks. Keep it coming, fellow Gold, lets go for Ruby.

Thanks Claudia, it’s only because I have had a few myself that I realise how important that it is for others too. Let’s make it happen!
